Implementation Delays for Tracheostomy Supplies Updates

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recently updated the List of Contracted Tracheostomy supplies effective for dates of service on and after September 1, 2021 for additions and December 1, 2021, for deletions. However, the implementation of the Universal Product Number (UPN) additions and pricing changes in the Medi-Cal billing system has been delayed.

Providers with denied claims are instructed to wait to resubmit or submit an appeal or Claim Inquiry Form (CIF) until after the system is updated. DHCS working to update the system as soon as possible and will be notified upon completion.

An Erroneous Payment Correction (EPC) will be implemented to reprocess claims that were submitted after September 1, 2021, with a price change for the affected UPNs.
