Effective for dates of service on or after October 1, 2021, the Centers for
Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is modifying the short and long descriptions of
ICD-10-CM (Clinical Modifications) and ICD-10-PCS (Procedure Coding System) diagnosis codes as part of the 2022 annual ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 PCS update.
