1. Fiscal Intermediary Transition Frequently Asked Questions

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) California Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) Division is engaged in a multi-year initiative to transition contracts for the Fiscal Intermediary (FI) responsible for the business operations of fee-for-service Medi-Cal.

The transition from the current vendor to the incoming FI, DXC Technologies Services, LLC, is projected to occur on October 1, 2019, with a primary objective being a successful transition without disruptions to state programs, providers and beneficiaries.

DHCS is committed to keeping the provider community informed throughout this process. DHCS will provide regular updates on the Medi-Cal website (, including capturing provider questions to update the frequently asked questions below.

Fiscal Intermediary Transition FAQs:

  1. Will the Telephone Service Center phone number remain the same?

    Yes. The number (1-800-541-5555), hours of operation (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and information available through the Telephone Service Center (TSC) will remain the same.

  2. Will provider payments continue as usual?

    Yes. Ensuring payments to providers will always be a priority for DHCS. DHCS is working to ensure that the transition has no impact on checkwrite.

  3. If I have billing questions or issues regarding payments during or after the transition, who should I contact?

    If providers have questions or issues regarding payments before, during or after transition, the same resources will be available. Just like today, access PDF versions of Remittance Advice Details (RAD) on the Transaction Services page of the Medi-Cal website, call the Telephone Service Center at 1-800-541-5555 or write to Cash Control at the address below:

  4. Where can I get up-to-date provider information as the date of the transition gets closer?

    There will be regular updates on the Medi-Cal website ( as the transition progresses.
