Medi-Cal Notice of Action and Reduction of Benefits
If any of your Medi-Cal recipients have received the Medi-Cal Notice of Action and Reduction of Benefits, please advise them that this notice does NOT mean that they are losing their Medi-Cal coverage. This notice, as required by the federal government, is letting them know that their DRUG benefits will now be administered by Medicare and not by Medi-Cal. This is known as Medicare Part D. On January 1, 2006, all drugs, except for some drugs that Medi-Cal currently covers, will be provided to recipients by the Medicare prescription drug plan.
Recipients need to call Medicare at 1-800-633-4227 or visit the Medicare Web site to find out what Medicare prescription drug they have been placed in or to change their plan.
