TAR and eTAR Processing Clarification
August 31, 2006
Providers may not update paper Treatment
Authorization Requests (TARs) using the electronic
Treatment Authorization Request (eTAR) system. Once a TAR
has been started using the paper process, it must be
continued in the same manner to avoid complications with
adjudication.
Providers may submit a new eTAR, before the expiration of a paper TAR, to reauthorize the services, as long as there is no overlap of service dates from one TAR to another. Providers may continue to update existing eTARs online through the eTAR process.
