Effective retroactively for dates of service on or after December 31, 2011 the following HCPCS local codes have been terminated:

• X5528 (Epinephrine HCl – 1 mg/ml)
• X5530 (Epinephrine PNT – 1:1000 solution)
• X6164 (Epinephrine HCl – 0.1 mg/ml)
• X6166 (Epinephrine PNT – 1:200 suspension)

The annual HCPCS update for 2011 has established HCPCS code J0171 (injection, adrenaline, epinephrine, 0.1 mg) as a Medi-Cal benefit to replace the local codes.
