Effective for dates of service on or after November 1, 2006, in compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the California Department of Health Services (DHCS) will allow only HCPCS Level II codes and modifiers when billing Medi-Cal for Home and Community-Based Waiver (HCBS) services administered by In-Home Operations. HCPCS Level III codes and modifiers will no longer be reimbursable by Medi-Cal. More information will be available in future Medi-Cal Updates.
