As part of the 2005 HCPCS Update, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has created national modifiers –AF, –AG and –TM with different descriptors than the Medi-Cal local modifiers –AF, –AG and –TM. The Medi-Cal program has not yet adopted these national modifiers as benefits. Therefore, providers should not use modifiers –AF, –AG, or –TM using the national descriptors to bill for Medi-Cal services until notified to do so in a future Medi-Cal Update.
