HIPAA: Volunteers Needed for Beta-Testing of 276/277 Batch Transactions

HIPAA Testing March 31, 2005

EDS, the Medi-Cal fiscal intermediary, is seeking volunteers to beta-test the 276/277 Version 4010A1 Health Care Claim Status Request and Response batch transactions. Beta testing for these transactions begins April 25, 2005. To ensure thorough beta testing, the final group of volunteers must represent a comprehensive cross-section of the user community. Therefore, participation is voluntary but is by invitation only, and this notice is not a promise of inclusion in the beta-test program. Interested parties will be evaluated and, if selected to participate, notified of their acceptance as a beta tester.

Those interested in volunteering are strongly encouraged to review the 276/277 Version 4010A1 Health Care Claim Status Request and Response Companion Guides found on the ASC X12N Version 4010A1 Companion Guides and NCPDP Technical Specifications page of the Medi-Cal Web site. The Companion Guides supplement the Implementation Guide, and contain the format and establish the data contents of the claim status request and response transactions for use within an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment.

If you are interested in becoming a beta-test volunteer, call the Telephone Service Center (TSC) at 1-800-541-5555 (border providers and out-of-state billers call [916] 636-1200) and select the prompt for POS/Internet inquiries. Inform the operator of your interest in volunteering as a beta-tester for the 276/277 Version 4010A1 Health Care Claim Status Request and Response batch transactions. The operator will obtain from you the information necessary to evaluate you as a potential participant. If you are selected as a volunteer, you will be sent beta-testing instructions via email by April 25.
