HIPAA: REMINDER - 2004 HCPCS Update and HIPAA Code Conversion for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) are Effective November 1, 2004
For dates of service on or after November 1, 2004, all DME claims must be billed using HCPCS Level II codes required by HIPAA; Medi-Cal-only codes will no longer be accepted after this date. Providers are reminded that the changes announced in the September Medi-Cal Update are not effective until dates of service on or after November 1, 2004. Please do not revise your normal billing practices prior to this date.
