Automated Eligibility VerificationSystem (AEVS) Voice Response Terminology Changes – Some terms used in the Automated Eligibility Verification System (AEVS) have been modified to be consistent with recent field name changes in the 270/271 Real-Time Internet Eligibility transaction and Point of Service network.

276 Transaction Companion Guide Now Available – Medi-Cal has developed a Companion Guide for the 276 Version 4010A1 Health Care Claim Status batch transaction.

Volunteers Needed for Fall 2004 Beta-Testing of 270/271 Transactions – EDS, the Medi-Cal fiscal intermediary, is seeking volunteers to beta-test the 270/271 Version 4010A1 Health Care Eligibility Benefit Inquiry and Response transactions through leased-line and CICS Inter-System Communication (ISC) submissions.

Internet Professional Claim Submission (IPCS) Online Claim Form and User Guide Updates – Effective July 19, 2004, the 837 Professional Standard Claim on the Internet (also known as the Internet Professional Claim Submission [IPCS] Online Claim Form) will be updated to ensure compliance with HIPAA.

276/277 Claim Status Transaction Updates – On July 19, 2004, selected field names on the 276/277 Claim Status Request and Response transaction will be updated.

270/271 Real-Time Internet Eligibility (RTIE) Screen Changes – On March 22, 2004, selected field names used in the 270/271 Real-Time Internet Eligibility (RTIE) transactions (previously called "Determine Patient's Eligibility and Internet Batch Eligibility [IBEA] Processing") changed to comply with transaction standards mandated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

837 Version 4010A1 Transaction: Correction of Systems Error – Medi-Cal has corrected a systems error that in certain instances caused the rejection of multiple 837 Version 4010A1 transactions for the same recipient.

837 Version 4010A1 Transaction: Correction of Systems Errors – Errors that occurred during the processing of 837 Version 4010A1 transactions submitted between September 22, 2003 and January 12, 2004 have been corrected.

ASC X12N 837 Transactions: Delimiter Specification Change – Following the October 2003 implementation of the ASC X12N 837 Version 4010A1 format, certain transactions were rejected and reported as having invalid delimiters.

Computer Media Claims Enrollment and Testing Procedures for 837 4010A1 Transactions – Medi-Cal now offers Computer Media Claims (CMC) filing using the ASC X12N 837 4010A1 transaction format.
